Suggested Classes for Beginners
Welcome to Ginseng Yoga & Bodywork! Thank you for choosing our
studio to begin your exploration of Yoga. As our highest priority
is customer satisfaction, we want your yoga experience at Ginseng
to be inspiring and fulfilling. In order to support this, as with
any fitness program, it is very important that you are matched appropriately
for your initial classes. We therefore encourage you to call or
email us with any
questions that you might have. Our staff will make every effort
to help you determine which classes would be most appropriate for
your needs.
To aid the process of selecting a class, we have a few suggestions
listed below.
This guideline will help you get started
Please feel free
to try other level 1- 1-2 classes as you see fit! There are several
on the schedule to choose from.
As always, listen to & honor your body while practicing. There
are many poses you will be able to do and some you may wish to skip
ENJOY!
Introductory Classes
For students who wish to begin their yoga practice with a traditional
format, but at a slower pace. These classes provide instruction
in the basic poses, and will slowly increase strength and flexibility
over time. Please call before attending if you have any physical
concerns.
Monday 7:30pm - Yoga Foundations with Alison
Plys. This friendly class introduces and instructs beginning
students in the basic yoga poses. Provides time at the end of class
for questions.
Monday 4:30pm - Yoga Basics
with Andrea Liddle .
This class teaches the basics of combining movement and breath in
a Vinyasa flow, along with guided, gentle instruction in the poses.
Teacher is Synergy trained.
Thursday 6:00pm - Fundamentals
of Yoga with Robert
Hammill . This class provides a supportive environment emphasizing
detailed instruction in the poses, with in-depth preparation and
individual adjustments for each pose. Teacher is Iyengar trained.
Thursday 5:00pm and Saturday 11:30am - Deep Yoga with
Laura
Plumb.
This class introduces the
fundamentals of combining mantra, pranayama and meditation with
the basic asanas in flow sequences.
Friday at 5:30pm and Sunday at 10:00am - Amrit
Flow with Ken Kolonko.
Good for beginner's with some prior yoga experience, these classes
blend physical postures with deep breathing and contemplative meditation
to build energy, stamina and union of body, mind & spirit.
Gentle Classes
These classes are intended for students who would prefer a restorative
class, and a slower, meditative pace. These classes are appropriate
for seniors and those with physical limitations.
Monday 10:30am - Harmony Yoga with Rama
Deva. This restorative class uses mantra, breath and gentle
movement to harmonize body and mind and rejuvenate spirit. Release
deep subtle tensions through a peaceful grounding practice. Gain
stability and inner balance that can be taken off the mat and into
daily life. Good for all levels.
Thursday 7:30pm - Bliss Yoga with Rama
Deva. Deeply relaxing, this blissful class promotes tension
release from the muscles along the spine through correct alignment
and subtle progressive movements.
Friday 10:30am - Core Opening with Aimee
Donzis. Influenced by Svaroopa, this class promotes deep healing
on all levels through inner contemplation as well as core muscle
release.
Restorative Classes
These classes each provide their own unique approach to healing.
They are suggested for students who prefer a restorative class,
but would like a more active pace than our gentle classes. Please
let the teacher know if you have any physical limitations.
Tuesday 7:00pm, Sunday 5:00pm - Prana Yoga with Susan
Marcus. A nurturing practice that offers long, slow, deep stretches
for maximum physical release, compassionate mindfulness for mental
ease and focus, and lots and lots of breath for increased vitality,
healing and inner peace. Susan is Phoenix Rising trained.
Monday 7:00pm, Tuesday 10:00am, Wednesday 7:30pm - Deep Healing
with Bhava Ram. This
class incorporates all aspects of a classic yoga practice, including
asanas (yoga poses), mantras (repetition of sacred syllables and
words), pranayama (breathing practices), visualization and meditation
to promote profound healing and well-being in the student.
Thursday 10:00am - Healthy Backs with Natasha
Tininenko. This class is intended for students who have diagnosed
back and neck limitations, or who wish to maintain a healthy back
through yoga. Also appropriate for any student who wishes to improve
their alignment. Teacher is a Physical Therapist as well as a Yoga
instructor.
Saturday 9:00am - Healthy Backs with Robert
Hammill. Whether you have previous injuries, back pain or just
want to learn how to keep your back healthy, this class will help
you by focusing on alignment, pose modification for therapeutic
application,
core strengthening and flexibility.
