Frances Dove
In 2003, Frances began taking yoga classes
at a local Buddhist temple and became one of the yoga teachers there.
She studied Buddhist psychology at the temple through the University
of the West, and attended a one-month long monastic retreat in Taiwan
to experience the life of Buddhist monks and nuns. Her yoga teaching
style reflects the depths she has gained through many years of meditation
practice.
In 2007, she began practicing yoga in more depth
at Pilgrimage of the Heart Yoga and over time, as she experienced
profound healing and transformation through her yoga practice, she
felt inspired to share those benefits with others. In 2010, she
completed her teacher training with the Deep Yoga School of Healing
Arts under the guidance of Laura Plumb and Bhava Ram. Along with
Buddhist mindfulness, Deep Yoga influences her teaching style today.
Frances has been engaged in service work
since she immigrated to the U.S from Germany as a young adult. She
graduated with a B.A. in social work from San Diego State University
and from 1994-2006 practiced in the area of child abuse prevention.
Since 2006 she has dedicated much of her time to delve deeply into
her own transformation of childhood abuse. Her participation in
the Deep Yoga Mastery of Life Teacher Training at Ginseng greatly
contributed to her healing and to her desire to offer a healing
experience through yoga. She continues to feel passionate about
her work with children, currently serving as a support teacher for
children with special needs in the public school system.
